Mad lad Itsuno actually done it
ooh
I love mechanics that basically force you to delete your save. So good
If you're so great then why do you corrupt those who are just as great?

I mean the pawns say some wild shit like "Stop telling me what to do", hold their head like they have a headache, and their eyes glow red and so on and even then it takes a few more days before they're full murder mode, so not to victim blame but if you don't notice something obviously odd with that that may be a slight problem.

It was pretty obvious when I had an infected pawn way after the group that gave me the popup about the affliction, so after I cleared a region with them after like 30 minutes I just yeeted all three of them into a deep river, retrieved my pawn, and took a nice nap. I've had 4 of them so far that were super clearly affected, and a few more that were iffy but that might have just been their smartass inclination.

Also apparently if you wait a week in game most of the NPCs that get murdered respawn anyway

Just remember to throw your pawn to the brine if they start getting too sassy, and if they get a real bad case of red eyes

Wait...why does throwing someone in a river cures them of a homicidal curse?

Doesn't have to be a river, they just need to be removed from your party. So with pawns that you rented, you can simply dismiss them.

If your main pawn that you can't dismiss is infected, the only option is to kill them and it would be an actual game design problem if they retained the affliction no matter how many times you killed them. Given that, it makes sense what you have to do. I just chose to kill all of them because I wake up every morning in real life and choose videogame violence. Deep water is a way faster death than watching them bleed out for 2 minutes.

then what's the point? just to bother the player? your pawn shows obvious signs, stop what you're doing, throw them into the water to cure them, (but not permanently)

it's really stupid, and it almost seems like an exploit or oversight, not a lore-accurate intended way of curing them. why fight the player with things like this? not enjoying shit like this isn't "being dramatic," it's perfectly reasonable to ask what the fuck were they thinking?

then there's the time limit for the endgame content. what the fuck were they thinking? no one said "oh man the one thing holding DD1 back was that there was no time limit"
