Citing a decline in enrollment, the Inglewood Unified School District announced plans Wednesday to close five schools by the end of the 2024-25 school year.
The announcement was made by the districts Superintendent Dr. James Morris, where he told the IUSD community that the data tells the story.
Simply put, were operating more schools than we can afford to operate, he said. We need to close some schools to remain competitive, improve instruction and repair the schools that will stay open.
The district said the schools that will close are:
* Crozier Junior High School
* Hudnall TK-6 Elementary School
* Highland TK-6 Elementary School
* Morningside High School
* Kelso TK-6 Elementary School
The schools will close at the end of the 2024-25 school year.
The district had already closed three schools since 2019.
Lack of enrollment seems like a valid reason to close a school right? Unless of course theyre using that as an excuse and just packing 100 kids into a single classroom.
Is TC trying to blame marijuana for this?
I'm assuming that TC meant CA would have a surplus in its budget, for stuff like schools, once weed was legalized
The entire education system is dealing with low enrollment because the 2008 recession reduced the birthrate.
^ I agree, I'm just posting (what I believe to be) TC's argument.
