Agreed. Especially as the concept of 'forced relatability' is nonsense.
Everything about every fictional characters is 'forced' by their creators trying to achieve certain effects. They don't arise naturally from some mystical creative process, they are the result of a writer asking themselves 'what am I trying to do with this character?'.
The other thing that gets me are the unique set of barriers people put up for minority characters: if you are going to include a black or LGBT character, then they have to be 'well-written', 'organic', and 'non-stereotypical', says the person eagerly consuming their 148th piece of media about a gruff, white, ex-special forces tough guy with a dead family.
