I don't see modern Hollywood as any different than it's ever been most movies have always been bad with the few good ones being the rarity. Really a sequel or remake of an old movie today scares me no more then it did in the nineties. Only difference is I was less attached to this films being remake or getting decades too late sequels.
Most movies being bad makes the good ones even better.
I can't think of too many 90s movies that were bad sequels/remakes of older movies that were good.
