The farthest that the Lobos went was the 98-99 season when they got in the elite 8 led by Kenny Thomas. I think they got blown out by UConn or some other powerhouse team. Usually they make it to the sweet 16 or an early exit. Lobo fan for well over 30 years!

That is so great. In my youth I went to NCAA tournament sites all the time to watch games. I havent been in quite some time and I regret it-Live NCAA Tournament basketball is one of the best atmospheres in sports.

Always glad to meet a fellow Lobo fan! But I have to correct you-Lobos have never ever been to the sweet sixteen, much less the elite 8. They lost to that UConn team in the second round in 1999. I was on my way to check on my wedding site in another state in 1999 and listened in horror as my team was dismantled on the car radio. My recollection is that UConn won the whole thing that year. The closest the Lovos got to sweet 16 was losing to Louisville in the second round by 1 in the 90s, and 3 in 2012 (the Drew Gordon team).

My family is really connected to UNM. I know this for a fact. I wish you were correct instead of me!

I went to HS with Kenny Thomas, and even got to play ball with him a few times! He has always been very nice to me, and did not swat any of my shots into another state even though he could have easily.

Admittedly, I don't watch any of the women other than reading or catching some highlights. I do remember hearing about her great run last tourney. She pretty much carried her team through some of the games. Scoring a lot of points.

If I don't have anything better to do. I'll have to watch an Iowa women's game this tournament.

It's nice to see the three teams in close proximity I tend to root for (Gonzaga, Washington St., Boise St.) all make it into the tournament this season. I don't usually get that often.

Good game. I feel like watching some that Boise is the better team, and they're going to pull away in the final minutes and win this one.

*Edit* Nope I was wrong. Boise went ice cold down the stretch. Missing that easy layup when they were down 52-49 with around a minute left really hurt the comeback effort. The Colorado players made the big shots and free throws when they needed too.

I made my bracket and I am rolling with these teams as my final four.

East: UCONN
South: Texas A&M
Midwest: Creighton
West: New Mexico

I'm not a believer in the other three 1 seeds. Purdue always chokes. Houston just got murdered in their last game. UNC I feel is a class below Uconn, Purdue, and Houston at the top of the rankings. I have all three of them not making it out of their region.

Do we agree with Tom Izzo that upsets are bad for the sport?

Between dumb takes like that and the Big Ten and SEC saying we should get rid of automatic bids or let all the power 5 teams in, I feel like we are going to see the NCAA tourney ruined before long. "Our teams make a lot of money! They shouldn't lose out on even more money by sucking at basketball this season!" Like, Vanderbilt or Louisville are already making a lot more money in a season than Colgate or South Dakota State.

I haven't watched a basketball game since 1996 and don't follow college nor NBA, but my wife and I fill out brackets every year for shits and giggles.

I have UConn over Baylor, Kentucky of Tennessee and UConn beating Kentucky.

I haven't seen my wife's bracket yet but it's always batshit.

Edit : lol she has Dayton over Northwestern, Tennessee over Nebraska with Tennessee winning.
I guess I'm something of a ne'er do well.

Pac12 conference off to a 3-0 start in the tournament.

Nevada has a huge lead last time I checked. Hopefully there'll be more closer, competitive games in the 2nd half of today's slate of games.

Wow big choke from Nevada, only scoring 2 points in the final 6-7 minutes of game and being sloppy with the basketball. Great comeback by Dayton with hitting all those big shots on that run and playing good defense.
