Housing boom after WWII as people moved into the suburbs. There was a trend of building vast tracts of single family homes as quickly and cheaply as possible, so two-by-twigs and tissue paper became the norm.

The outside is all log. On the inside there is some logs on the ceiling, but the walls is mostly boards and planks. I actually prefer if this way as its easier to hang stuff on the walls.

Because there is an abundance of timber here, and that makes it much cheaper to build houses out of it as opposed to, say, stone like has been done in most of Europe since forever.
