And he was so clever with being secretly "lazy" and making it work. Instead of just going full clutter like Oda or inexplicably barren like Kubo, he made it make sense. Check it out:

He establishes the environment, the characters relative to the environment, and the characters relative to each other. Since we know Frieza's up there and Gohan's short, we can have Gohan hang up there and not need any background at all: we know he's "in the air" and the expanse in front of the camera is a flat plane. This continues with the next page:

Saves dealing with background for nearly two whole pages without breaking flow or making you question it. And he uses all that extra space to emphasize the impact of that last blow, to powerful effect.

Every single panel is consistently good looking, same quality, and the quality doesn't dip. Even when he doesn't feel like drawing something, he still makes it look good.
