Drug testing people getting government handouts: proved ineffective and not cost saving at all.And yet, SF will earn absolutely no love from the right-wing for this blatant act of appeasement. To the GQP, everyone living there will always be Satanic pedo commies, no matter how much it does things they agree with, and that city will be among the first targets for their genocidal crusade against LGBTQ+ people the second they're back in power.

wait...so when their 8th graders ask "when are we ever gonna use this?" it's actually a legit question because algebra was illegal in san francisco?
wtf lmao
It's not illegal, SF public schools track it for 9th grade. They're currently discussing adding it back as an 8th grade option. This is a nonbinding resolution to signal support for it and get the school board to move their butts.
Man some of you guys really have the brain worms. It isn't the GOP boogeyman pushing this stuff. It is the rich tech community people funding and pushing this stuff through. And remember the voters the residents of San Francisco approved this so how does this have anything to do with appeasing Republicans or the GOP in anyway? The two party system has broken their brains into believing that because Republicans are conservative that means Democrats are liberal. When in reality Democrats are conservative and Republicans are fascists.

Oh shit, they really did just drop algebra like that, for the racial gap? Christ that's fucking stupid. They've fucked over so many kids.
Not saying ir shouldn't be taught but I've never used it. I was told it was used in construction.... when I actually worked construction we just pulled out our tape measure and measured shit. Bossman was trying to figure something out with math once and by the time he got done I had already went up the ladder measured it and came back down.
Not saying I never used math in the line of work though just wasn't algebra.
Its more its preventing kids from low income areas to take Calculus which then puts them at a disadvantage in college which can lead to them dropping out of college altogether.
Rich kids can pay to take online math classes which can put them ahead in math. Poor students cannot do that and have to take whatever is offered at public school.
Also the drug test was for additional S.F. welfare money which some in the city said attracted people from outside the area to come to SF just to collect that check
Saying "I never use algebra" is pretty ridiculous
I use it all the time when percentages are involved, such as with sales or taxes or tip amounts.
We use algebra all the time without even thinking about it. Mathematical principles are all linked to the logic we use when understanding the world and making decisions.. Wonder why teachers can't explain this then. I just got answers like well construction uses it.
lmao one person mentions the GOP and this dude has a meltdown about it
this is rich liberal shit
