In my case, it's because I lived at home and my mum used the PC too, so I kept her account/passwords/etc on Firefox and mine on Edge, as
Firefox didn't let you have two separate accounts on the same browser
You don't need Edge. Firefox allows mutiple accounts.

If you don't want to deal with profile manager, just use Firefox Portable. Installed Firefox for mom, Portable Firefox for you.
