Wasn't a truck it was a bicycle with a freezer on the front, same thing though. You could hear its jingle a mile away if it was quiet out.
Every day I wake up and promise I will be nice to everyone, then I deal with people at work and remember why that will never happen.

we had one thjat played a tinny version of "turkey in the straw" as it rolled around the neighborhood. have the right coin, go to the side of the road, buy a frozen concoction that helps you hang on

No - I grew up in a small town (like a ~mile long and ~half mile wide in a valley) so the ice cream shop was never far away, then the bigger one we moved to when I was in middle school didn't have an ice cream truck until a few years ago.

There was like one in all of Bermuda, but I think it was constantly having engine troubles or something, so it was really rare to see it. But that just made it more magical when it was working. Mine was a close-knit community, and it would bring everyone out to socialize. Good times.

Kind of, we had Manapua Trucks/Vans in Oahu where I grew up

But they sold food, candies, drinks and ice cream

Edit: I googled it and they're still doing it (2022 article)?!

Holy crap, there was a dude that ran one in Ewa Beach where I used to live and he would bring me a cheeseburger, 1 can of juice and 2 airheads every day.... even when I didn't have the cash. He would just smile and give it to me anyways

Yes. I used to get the screwball, or the star bar, sometimes the bomb pop as a back up. I've heard one in my neighborhood recently, but haven't been able to go get something because I'm working and dieting.

When I was a kid ice cream trucks were probably more popular. Basically every week we would have an ice cream truck visit the cul de sac where I lived. But yeah, now manapua trucks and food trucks in general are far more common.

There was 1, and it was owned/operated by an asian lady. It was weird the one time we recognized her elsewhere not working the ice cream truck since she was the sole ice cream truck driver for as long as I can remember, and thus "hey, it's the ice cream lady". Once she stopped years ago, that was it... I think last year someone tried to restore the van into working, but that's about it.

Hell yeah. Fucking loved getting the Sonic popsicles with the bubble gum eyes when I was like 5.

Haven't heard them around for years now, IIRC. Given where I live, maybe the trucks were fronts for a drug operation, like they were over in Glasgow back in the '80s. I don't know.

And I hate the damn thing. That annoying short song on an endless loop that you can hear a mile away. They were even out the other day when we set a record high of 74. Selling ice cream in Iowa in February . . . this world is insane. Insane I tell you!
