seems like it will coast to best picture at the oscars with it taking two major precursors

there is still the directors guild awards as well. writers guild is after the oscars tho for some reason

sad. not a good movie.

This was honestly a fucking fantastic year for movies and I wouldnt raise my eyebrow about any of those winning. Except maybe Maestro lol

Oppenheimer is fantastic, but I would give the nod to Anatomy of a Fall. 2023 was a pretty good year for movies.

haven't seen oppenheimer yet. i probably will, but i'm not in a rush. not really a nolan guy.

i don't care who wins awards though, unless there's some extra juice behind the win, like when parasite won.

so should it win? sure, i guess? awards don't affect how i feel about it or other films.

Biopics

I liked Anatomy Of A Fall best.
The Zone Of Interest is an amazing film and I love Jonathan Glazer But it's not the kind of film you leave thinking "Oh wow I loved that" rather than "Nazis are awful and I feel sick".

Poor Things is the last one I need to see. Strange given Emma Stone is one of my favorite current actors.
I guess I'm something of a ne'er do well.

Probably deserved. I'm just hoping Lily Gladstone wins best actress cuz I really don't think Emma Stone should win it. I liked Poor Things but her performance didn't do much for me compared to Gladstone.
