That teen with locs in Texas lost his case. Neither of my high schools had any policy or length or style of hair, the exception of ones eyes needed to visible. I think its an incredibly stupid rule for a public school to have as it benefits no one and just makes people miserable.
I went to a military school.

Yes
Nope, only thing I remember having a rule about is girls couldn't wear those spaghetti strap shirts.

Yeah we weren't allowed it
Common sense says it may not taste good, but it'll make a turd.
I never realized the no hats thing was supposed to be about gangs?

What a bunch of out of touch loons.

Yeah, cause in my area the 90% white elementary school in the middle of a suburb I was in was BANGING hard. Us not being allowed to wear hats prevented so many gang wars at that school.

This. Not sure why all the schools I went to was obsessed with that. A lot of the girls just ignored it anyway in high school.

I think those were banned at my schools, but there wasnt much pushback.
My first high school did soft-ban girls with bigger breasts from wearing tighter shirts and the only answer theyd ever say was that their clothes were inappropriate with no further explanation. Only certain teachers who were women ever enforced this (admittedly, half or more of the teachers in general didnt care about the dress code policy in general).

Thats more stupid than my entire suburb (high school and elementary-junior high were different districts) banning skulls because of some random Satanic Panic reaction to a purported vendor that happened in the 80s or 90s (at least an old school newspaper article claimed that was prompted the ban).
We weren't allowed 'extreme' hairstyles, designs shaved into the hair, or 'unnatural' colours.

I never really learned what 'extreme' meant.
'Vinyl is the poor man's art collection'.
Only rules about dress and appearance mine had were no gang colors and no cuss words on clothing.
Yeah, boys couldn't have long hair.
You're never ever fully dressed without a smile!
Not that I recall.

No but my schools were ~85% black so a lot of those racist policies would have been a lost cause.

The school didn't but if your hair was anything besides normal you better be prepared to only associate with other kids with unusual hair. You would be mocked relentlessly for it.
Every day I wake up and promise I will be nice to everyone, then I deal with people at work and remember why that will never happen.
No my hs was pretty chill about hair. As long as you weren't stenciling something obscene into your head they didn't care. The dress code wasn't really enforced either as long as your shirt didn't didn't swear or say anything sexual.
