I have legit heard almost nothing good about Night Country. I tend to be cynical and assume when it's female leads that the backlash is shitty people being mad about it but nearly every criticism I've heard seems to have nothing to do with anything culture war related.
Nic is super bitter though. I like a lot of components of season 2 but it's unquestionably bad on the whole and is more of a disasterpiece type deal where it's a first pitch script HBO wanted to churn out that has some great scenes/performances but that's more that the creative talent occasionally shines through a really shitty curtain
