Imagine using anectodetal evidence to justify child abuse
How quaint.
Besides that, 90% of the time they are not "fine".

When I sin I sin real good.
I was beaten as a child and I have severe depression and anxiety issues
Common sense says it may not taste good, but it'll make a turd.
Plus the person saying that probably isn't actually fine. They just think they are
Most of the people who say that are not actually fine and just have a lot of unprocessed trauma that theyve rationalized/excused.

The knee-jerk reaction to angrily deny/dismiss the effects of generational trauma means you did not, in fact, turn out fine.
The food here is terrible. My steak was so tough it attacked my coffee and the coffee was too weak to defend itself.
I think my high anxiety comes from that type of stuff

It depends on the definition of fine and the level of abuse, but I'd believe the majority of people come out without any major trauma or anything. If they're trying to use it to justify abusing more children, then they're just fucked in the head.

My response to this is usually "you're saying it's ok to hit children. You are not fine."
It says right here in Matthew 16:4 "Jesus doth not need a giant Mecha."

It's weird that someone who was beaten as a kid and then grew up and wants to beat their own kids thinks they're fine
Sack to crack, going to town
Having received different forms of punishment as a child, I much prefer getting hit to getting my videogames taken away. That said, I don't think I have it in me to hit a kid so taking away stuff it is.
You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.

Eugh, always with the circular arguments for this specific thing. Yes, it's bad, before you think I'm supporting child abuse. Just people always get dumb about describing why it's bad, for some reason.

I don't believe in belts. There should be no ranking system for toughness.

As a parent, you would be looking for an effective punishment, not one the kid prefers. So taking stuff away is superior for every possible reason.

Can't think of any justification for hitting a kid, mind you.

I don't hit my kid. Never have, never will. The idea is to break the cycle, not perpetuate it.
