This sounds like one of those guys that posts Why isnt Pantera doing the halftime show? comments when the SB halftime performer is announced
I already joked about this but Yeah was literally the song I know. I just feel like he wasn't that popular but I was not into the hip hop scene either.
If Green Day put out their latest album a year ago it's possible they could have sold out. They aren't that heavy for the mainstream just don't play Paper Laterns or Burnout. Or FOD or....well they could play Good Riddance (Time of your life).
He fell off when he changed his name to a symbol in the 90s. Actually, by the time he headlined the halftime show in 2007, he hadn't even put out a decent album in literally 20 years. Everything he released after Sign of the Times is lackluster save for a few songs.
No one gave a fuck about Prince in 2007. None of y'all remember any of the bullshit he was releasing in the 2000s. The Rainbow Children? Musicology? 3121? Planet Earth? That one album that was only released to Target? LOL
Diamonds & Pearls and The Gold Experience were both top tier albums
And Musicology was seen as a comeback album for him (even though it's sales weren't really due to the album itself)
People see him in concert because they remember him for his old hits. No one cared about his newer stuffAnd then he refused to play his old music because it was against his religion lol
Mediocre at bestWe'll just have to agree to disagree then. Some of his best stuff were on those albums.
He sneakily sold the album to all the ticket goers for his concerts because he knew it'd flop otherwise, forcing Billboard to change the rules for album sales because that's laughably dishonest for an artist to do.I knew about him including the album with the ticket sales, which is why I said its sales weren't due to the album itself, and that his ticket sales were why it went multi-platinum. Musicology was seen as a comeback due to it being his first major label album in a number of years, the first one to be getting radio airplay in a number of years as a result, and generally being considered one of his better albums since the end of his Warner Bros. years.

Pantera would at least get you hyped. Granted when Usher finally played 'yeah' that wasn't so bad.
And you know, MJ's halftime performance in 1993 was nothing special, either. Guy was lip-syncing the whole time and the finale with "Heal the World" was corny af. And this was just a few months before he got accused of being chomo for the first time; the part with the kids joining him onstage did not age well at all.MJ didn't have to do a damm thing for over two minutes to start. Just appear on stage, and people go bananas.
Super Bowl halftime performances have never been good, honestly. Either you're gonna see a bunch of shitty modern pop stars onstage or you're gonna see washed up has-beens.
A few decent songs doesn't make a good album lol.
Diamonds and Pearls had Cream and that's it.
Gold Experience doesn't even have anything worth mentioning.
None of its singles even cracked the Hot 100 lol
In 2004, people were bumping Usher, Outkast, Kanye, Eminem, Snoop, etc. The fact Prince's album managed to sell over 2m might have been impressive ... if not for the fact he sneakily sold the album with tickets
Tell me you know nothing about Ursh without telling me.

That is the f***ing opposite of s***ty pop star or has been.
Just off the top of my head, Diamonds & Pearls has the title track, Gett Off, Money Don't Matter 2 Night and Insatiable in addition to Cream.
Gold Experience has The Most Beautiful Girl In The World, I Hate You and P Control.
If you're not a Prince fan, that's fine, you can just say so. Like I said, we can agree to disagree.
