I'm not sure to be honest I'm trying to learn myself.

I started off getting a liquid eyeliner but it was kind of messy but easy to apply.

Then I got a pencil one and it was too hard to apply

i use nyx brand. both ink and pencil. very easy to apply and clean. once it dries it stays in place real nice, i barely need to touch it up throughout the day

On rare occasions I wear it. It's good at accentuating the eyes. You don't even have to be goth to wear it.
