Currently Playing: FFXIV, TES games, Baldur's Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Overwatch, Forza Horizon 5, Pokemon, and various random Gamepass games.

It's basically a short term layoff. You should sign up for unemployment for those 9 days. Might as well accept a benefit you pay for. I remember when I got out of the military I wasn't going to sign up for unemployment while looking for a job. A friend talked me into it and I'm glad I did it. It ended up being about 6 weeks and that small amount kept me from digging more into my savings.

I'm not an expert on it but my dad works for a huge tractor company (John Deere) and they will sometimes have a single day of unemployment at times and they definitely do shutdowns at certain times of the year when they have a 1 week layoff.

I'd look into it. I bet you can sign up for those 9 days.

It's worth asking. If you're not getting paid for those days and it's involuntary it might be considered a furlough.
