Fun fact: The perceived connection between the devouring behaviour of the wolf and the progress of malignant cancers was so engaging that 'wolf' was used as a synonym for cancerous disease from as early as the thirteenth century .

Yeah. Cancer became more likely, so the ones that have survived and passed on their genes over the past few generations were the ones that had more resistance anyway.
