Wikipedia mentions the events similar to that website, although the sourde on Wikipedia is no longer availabe via link. There was small exhibition about Cark Akeley at the Field Museum before the pandemic where I read the story of the event as well.
The article says dude shot the leopard in the back paw. Also that dude is insane.
