and now that I watched it, it literally ruined my day. I don't even want to post it because it's that bad. Literally got the Disney "direct to vhs/dvd sequel" treatment.

Havent seen it yet so cant comment on that but I highly enjoyed the first movie. Going into it I didnt know much about it and wasnt expecting much but really ended up enjoying it.

The first movie is a goddamn treasure and hilariously it was ahead of its time when it came to the "nice guy" trope with Titan. Financially, it did alright but it got overshadowed by Despicable Me 1, which to be fair is Illuminations best movie to date.

It's unfortunate it's not getting the Kung Fu Panda or How to Train your Dragon treatment when it comes to its sequels.

I didn't even see the first movie until 2020, when my SO wanted to show it to me. It was so much better than I was expecting. I saw the trailers for the sequel and series and they both look terrible. I think that none of the voice actors are even returning for their roles, either.

Yeah, when I started dating my wife 5 years ago, she really wanted me to watch this movie. I gave in and yeah it has such a soft spot in my heart. There was a really good youtube video I watched on how Megamind was a subversion masterpiece.

They picked the wrong Dreamworks IP to make into a low budget "direct to vhs/dvd" movie. I don't think anyone would've batted an eye if they picked Shark Tale, Trolls, or even Boss Baby for this decision.
