PS2 worked just fine, especially the Slim version. I didn't have trouble with consoles not working until the 360 and PS3 (the Sega Saturn had problems too, but to be fair it was long after its release date)
Not to say that I'm in love with you
but who's to say that I'm not?

the infamous disc read error
In Vice City, I used to fly up and down da main road on da second island in a NRG 500 so fast none of da textures would load, it broke a PS2.
EDIT: it was a slim.

iirc it was an easy fix that just required a quick and dirty disassembly and a few turns with a screwdriver on the laser module.

that did the trick for mine anyways

What's the point of posts saying "Well I personally didn't have an issue"? So what? Lots of other people did.

Like, my Xbox 360 never red ringed but I'm not going to act like RROD wasn't a problem with that system.

I mean... I had an issue, and as a 12 year old with less braincells than pubes I managed to read a guide about how to fix DRE and it worked.

my fat ps2 crashed on one of the Medal of Honor games then never recovered. It was the second one we had, first one died while my sister and friends playing a dancing game. Then we got a slim.

Me too.

The slim model eventually turned out great though. The fat PS2s were garbage.

I did that a few times but eventually even that didn't work. It matched the 360 for breaking for me as well until I got the slim model. But you couldn't really fix the 360.
Trying is the first step towards failure, so just dont give it a shot and you cant dissapoint.
