I looked it up and this is pretty interesting. Designers, programmers, and composers are Japanese but the director and writers are western.

The dev company Tango Gameworks is Japanese though and both the writers appear to be huge Japanese fanboys.

The director is American and the studio is Japanese.

the hell? There are tons of good games that focus on combat developed by westerns are that good. Same with good writing from Japan.

And by good writing I meant that the dialogue is very natural. I can tell this wasn't localized and it was written in English first.
