they strike this perfect blend of adventure and nostalgia and whimsy. all the characters are so great, i could watch them forever. nate and elena is my favorite romance in any game, period. god the adventures look so cool

i wish we got a thousand more of these

The loathesome Dungeata!

Anyway I liked the Uncharted games, except for Golden Abyss, due to forced touch controls. The series for the most part peaked in 3, 4 was a major drag, Lost Legacy was a bit better and has the best area design.
I have the Nathan Drake Collection on PS4 but have only played the first game.

I enjoyed it though and meant to play the others, I just never got around to it.

really im surprised, i wouldnt say 3 did the best of anything. it was very cobbled together and tonally dissonant. 10 game tho. when 4 first came out it was too slow for me but my tastes have developed and the slow burn in the beginning makes the cascading chaos come together so much harder for me. 4 gives me chills. and that stealthplay my god. goated. 2 is my favorite one tho

cant wait to get a vita for golden abyss alone

I like the tone and vibe and the tomb raider reboots. The Uncharted games at definitely higher quality, though.

They should let Naughty Dog take a stab at Tomb Raider.

I like the atmosphere the most don't really care for story.
You aren't even really reading my posts; you're just staring at your e-mail client and fondly reminiscing about that hobo you stabbed to death. :P
I prefer point n click adventure games

Shooter combat is just too tough for me. I even think the new ratchet games are tough (despite being considered easy) because they are 3rd person shooters
I'm a Taurus. Currently playing: Thimbleweed Park(PC), DMC3:SE Ubisoft Port (PC), Oddworld Abe's Exoddus (PC), Ratchet Rift Apart (Ps5)

First game (I mean all of them are really) is the most blatant Indy Jones, Romancing the Stone, etc. adventure knockoff game ever but I'd be a complete liar if I said it wasn't a highly entertaining experience I actually loved playing.

Platforming controls definitely didn't age well though, and I was falling to my death like a hundred times because it wasn't as refined until the last game.

Uncharted 1 is legitimately one of my most disliked games of all time. Absolute hot garbage.

2 was really good though
it's the Spaniards, Sully. they never left!

Currently Playing: FFXIV, TES games, Baldur's Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Overwatch, Forza Horizon 5, Pokemon, and various random Gamepass games.

Nathan Drake

that two-bit thief. Risking it all for some piece of treasure.

That's how they know me

How they'll...remember me...

But that's not who I am.

They're good but not for me. I just hate the way moving the character around feels. Have the same issue with TLOU and RDR2.
It's basically the last popcorn flick game series.

I dunno why modern gamers have sticks so far up their asses that everything has to be SRS BUZNESS one hundred percent of the time but there was just so much charm to a series about an adventure hunter with off the wall phobias and goofy dialog fighting zombies and genies and shit.
I didnt like that it was hold forward to auto platform which is where tomb raider started to lean

That's honestly the one thing I never liked about the series. The need to take a fantastical thing and have some sort of grounded explanation for it every single time.

Grounded? Since when? They're always cursed (or blessed or whatever) by an ancient jewel or some shit.

I have played and completed 4, but don't recall what the mythology hook was. I remember the final battle being inside a burning ship in a massive cave. Refresh my memory for me.

It's never an actual "magic" thing like say the Ark of the Covenant was in Indiana Jones. It's always some virus, the properties of a plant or something causing hallucinations.

You're thinking of something else, I guess. In 1 it was cursed gold , it 2 it was the tree of life , and in 3 it was literal genies . If I ever get around to 4, I'll report back.

What people hundreds of years ago decided to call those things with their limited knowledge doesn't change what they are. And the literal genies are literally hallucinations caused by the toxic waters of that city.

Also, regarding the cursed gold here's what the devs have to say

Although the game never truly clarifies what the cause is behind the mutation, only calling it a "curse", Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells addressed the issue. He said that mystical elements do not necessarily have a supernatural explanation, and that the idea was that there was a virus trapped inside the sarcophagus' mummy.[2]

I didn't even know they straight up stated what was obvious until I looked it up just now

And the yeti from 2 are just people in costumes.

ig i misunderstood you. i was just gonna say 4 doesnt explain anything cuz there's nothing to explain

no, he's kinda right. at least about 1 and 3. in 1 it's a contagion. in 3 it's a drug

2 tho is straight up magic sap

the original plan for 3 was so much better. Talbot should have been the genie affecting his will from inside the cask. he makes literally zero sense otherwise

Yeah, my mind did recall something about 2 being BS and it wasn't the sap but the yeti creatures

I didn't know people still put any stock into external sources. I've to date never seen a single one that wasn't a clear backpedal or beg for attention.

But sure, if you wanna ruin it for yourself, be my guest.
it's not even about what the devs said, the game pretty outright shows it. when roman opens the sarcophagus you can see the particulates burst out. navarro knew it would happen, he wants to sell it as a bio weapon

Are they actually good good. I went to play The Last of Us after like a decade of hype and it was the most generic stealth action crafting thing I'd ever seen.

Like Dungeater said, it was pretty clear and obvious. I say in the very post you quoted that I didn't even know the devs outright stated the obvious until just now. It's not so much me "ruining it for myself" as you not being able to see what's right in front of you or forgetting things straight up shown or stated in the games as evident by thinking 3 featured actual Djinn . That entire sequence was shown to be a hallucination from the very second it started.

The first one is a bit iffy and dated regarding the gunplay, but they're pretty great games. The setpieces are on another level compared to many games.
I remember just wanting 3 to be over.
I was so bored of that desert area.
Still waiting on that third threat

the first one hasnt aged well and you will only like it if characters are enough to drive a game for you

2 is peak. 3 is great but very obviously messy. 4 is peak

the last of us sucks

They're just incredibly fun to play. It's nice to play a mostly linear adventure game without skill trees and twelve different currencies.
