But Japan being brought up as a contrast when they arguably are the same in relations to say PDA between characters.

Some have said it's not that they view it as vulgar, just that affection is too sacred to present outside at best of romance heavy stories.

I'd agree, if risqu humor wasn't in many of the same material keeping PDA minimal. Like DBZ. Roshi can make a pass at Videl, but her and Gohan having an onscreen kiss is unwholesome?

Or heck besides how Pokmon use to make those jokes about how a ten year old character would be "fun in 8 years" or even had say a hot spring episode felt that Ash and Serena having an onscreen kiss would be too much:

I'd rather see people fuckin' in broad daylight than PDA tbh
My maid will hear about this.

what's funny to me is people still blame religious puritans for our prudishness.

it's not them complaining about tits and ass in vdieo games for example
I know Japan bans certain body parts, even when they're kayaks.

Is the pda a kid's anime only thing? I don't think about kissing very much, so I can't recall whether or not I've seen it in any live-action Japanese works I've seen. I don't think I've watched anime where characters regularly kissed. Wait, I saw the live-action Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches, I just honestly don't remember.

On the other hand, at least some animated works are known the emphasize horniness (it seemed like that stayed in what I saw of live-action Kakegurui). I know some oral sex happens in Ichi the Killer, but I don't recall for other films.
The US is extremely sexually open, we're all banging complete strangers on tinder every day!

DBZ was definitely for teens I believe. But even then you still have risqu bits in kid shows like Pokmon. Heck, Chansey Operation besides Dr. Proctor just having no qualms showing some attraction for Misty and had a perfectly fitting nurse uniform for her while Ash and Brock's doctor clothes were a bit too big.

Even toning down on that, Sun and Moon had a hot spring episode.
