He looked point blank at me when I walked in the room to pick him up and he said, "hey." Not something that sounded like hey, or heeeya or anything like that. He looked me dead in the eyes and perfectly said "hey." Like he was completely cognizant and aware of what he was doing.
It kinda freaked me out a bit honestly, he's only six months old. A lot of the time when someone enters the room or he sees them for the first time in a bit, he'll say something kinda resembling hey. Like heeya or hayyh, but this time he said it perfectly. I don't think it's farfetched that he understands it either. I'll say "Hey Levi" or "Hey buddy" or "Hey" a lot, so I think he has somewhat started to grasp that as like a greeting, or however a baby would understand it enough to repeat it.
According to my sister, this isn't the first time he's done that and she's saying it's his first word, which I honestly agree with after hearing him say it to me. But again, he's only six months so I thought she was exaggerating before now.
I don't anymore though. Is there any reason not to view this as his first word? Like is he too young for it to be official? I love my nephew and I honestly think he really just spoke some of his first words...
