Or it was before they adopted the English name. Apparently there was only one.

...Which I think is actually more accurate

It also took place "A long time ago, in a nebula far, far away..."

"That thick shaft that causes women to shudder !"
in Swedish the Millenium Falcon is called the Thousand-year Falcon
and when they say "R2 or 3PO" it gets written out as "Artoo or Threepio"

They didn't want your countrymen to think it was a Lisbet Salander movie.

I've seen their names written out in English, too. I don't like it, but I've seen it.

How do they handle the Darth vader Over there do they literally have to call him something else to avoid spoilers?

I think that is only in German.
And perhaps Dutch.

I dunno, but in Danish they're called skildpadder, meaning shield amphibian. Which is also great. Mushrooms we call paddehatte. Or amphibian hats in English.

Father in Danish is Far or Fader. Even in German it's Vater, not Vader. Besides Scandinavia doesn't do dubs of movies not targeted at children. Not enough people to support such a business, so subtitles are just translations of what they say in English to differing degrees of accuracy. Would be weird if the dialogue says Vader and the subtitles say Julio.

mushrooms aren't amphibian, though
