Not being into fromsoft stuff might actually be a blessing. I had to break a lot of my souls habits to get good. Still, there's a couple fights that I never could get the parry timing down so they were easier for me to fight like souls bosses.
I don't believe in belts. There should be no ranking system for toughness.

It's amazing. It's hard to get frustrated when the fights are so fun it's not even a chore to redo them.

I always avoided fromsoft games because of the difficulty, I know I ended up starting with the hardest one (well I played a bit of ds1) but the atmosphere and stuff ultimately sold me.

Well that's good because my biggest fear was getting hard stuck. It took me a while after I could consistently get to his second form because I didn't realize the counter lightning move wasn't a suggestion lol

Yeah Genichiro is the "do you understand how this works, mfer?" boss.

I think Sekiro is the only From game I haven't played since DS1. How's it compare to Elden Ring?

I beat Genichiro and I did not understand how the game worked, mf. I think it took me until some later minibosses to get it.

Loved it when it clicked.

I made a backup of my save at the end of the first level and kept restoring it every time I lost until I beat Genichiro at the start of the game. After that, the game was damn fun, because I basically got gud at the start. Genichiro was a joke when I fought him with actual tools to use.

its so much tighter and more beautiful

the benefit sekiro has, and it is a major one, is that there are no "builds"

the game is devoted to a singular vision and it has perfected that vision. you arent the main character. sekiro is. he's his own person, no RPG creation or muteness

i wish I could articulate it well. youre playin as a set guy, with a set weapon, and set skills. u can choose.which special attacks to pursue first but thats about it

and it's so gorgeous. because of the jumping and grappling hook editions, the little design gets really vertical and every bit of them has a lot of attention to detail

I really struggled with it. I've beat all the Dark Souls games, including the achievements for them. I bought Demon Souls back when it first game out and played it into the ground.

Sekiro was a beautiful game. The setting and bosses were great and I thought the story was rad. I really had challenges with the parry/block/break mechanisms though. Never got the hang of it. I managed to beat all the bosses on my first playthrough, including the one really tough optional one. However, I beat all the hardest bosses by almost always perpetually running and fishing for one or two attacks I could punish. Rarely did I just go mono y mono using parries as main tactic.

Great game, but dang it was hard. I have no stomach to ever revist it.

I went and did one of the side paths to completion before beating Genichiro. Hes definitely a wall where you have to play using the parry system as intended. (Except you can totally beat him just sprinting and doing hit and run attacks). Had to look online how to do the lightning reversal because the game doesnt explain it well.

Its also kind of shitty even if you understood the poor explanation for lighting reversal, that the test is the second phase of a tough boss fight. Or I guess third phase, even.

I find so far if you attack until they deflect they almost always immediately go for a swing so if you hit it right after you can usually parry.

Beat lady butterfly, she wasn't too bad. I had like 6 seeds for the second half of the fight so that was good

Honestly this for real for real.

In Sekiro, the only way out is through.

Learn to deflect, or die.

Best game From has ever made. When you finally get it, you get it.

No game I've ever played as felt as good since.

Even after I got the plat I went all the way through another 5 playthroughs, maxing out at NG+10
