All this really demonstrates is a complete lack of understanding by the GOP presidential candidates of what the republican constituents want in a candidate. They want Trump. There's no deeper meaning than that. There's literally no point in answering any questions if the answer to "Are you Trump?" is "No." DeSantis and Ramaswamy both tried to emulate Trump foolishly thinking that it would be enough but it's clearly not and it was a dumb plan that was never going to work.
Ramaswamy knew damn well he wasn't winning, his whole thing is an extremist grift to boost his public profile and possibly get hired by Trump for something in the future. Right now he only exists to sink the candidates who are
genuinely
trying to beat Trump.
DeSantis however legitimately fucked up.
