I don't understand from IH perspective, he did something kind of similiar with "My Immortal" when he read a fanfic and had some great editing along with it. Instead of doing that, he really try to pass off "Man Cave" like it was his own work and he would've gotten away with it if it were not for Hbomberguy's video.
I think the difference is that with "My Immortal" you're making fun of the writing and it doesn't really work if it's *your* writing, so it's totally natural to cite where you're getting it from.
For "Man Cave", you get to pass off the storytelling as your own.
