Imagining how you'd react to someone writing this in reference instead to Stalin and his industrial revolution or something

Why, because Stalin had the decency to mostly mass murder his own civilians while Kissinger spread that shit like syphilis?

I guess Apple = American mass murderer and Orange = Soviet lol. Watch this

Stalin: All around a pretty clear cut cold blooded thug who lived the principle of win at all costs both personally and in his and the Soviet Unions role during very uncertain times for the world geopolitically.

Was he the thug they needed to survive in the Cold War or a war criminal? Strong argument to say probably both
This is exactly how you rehabilitate such a figure. Can you even disagree with the passage as relating to Stalin?

When the actions they perform are abstracted and blurred with "uncertainty" and "survival".

No.

Or if he was the kinda evil needed to "survive" then we didn't deserve to. Because that survival is built on millions of innocents that his actions had murdered.

Yes, thats pretty much what they teach us in American schools. Its a joke.

Isnt the Venn diagram for American heroes according to school textbooks and terrible and destructive people pretty much a circle?

Christopher Columbus is a square around that circle

Christopher Columbus is a square around that circle

For sure.

It was a long time ago but I dont remember important figures in Australian history (e.g. Cook) being given this mythical hero status in school. Certainly not to the extent of Columbus, Crockett or the Founding Fathers, and probably a dozen others you could name.

We did cover the horrible treatment of our natives, though

Might be a US thing (one or many) that just seems weird to us foreigners. Similar to the cult-like worship of the flag and pledge of allegiance.

For sure.
Had Columbus gone a few hundred miles west, and landed on Mexico instead of Cuba, he would have found asstons of gold.
The Spanish conquistadors did that a hundred or two years later.

No one blames people for "everything wrong with the world."

They blame them for things they did. And Kissinger did a lot .

I'm down for it. He's got to be up there in age. I still remember him shooting a guy and making him apologize for getting shot.

I'm so sick and tired of people and family members telling me this. To you, I say Fuck Off.

If they were a person I hate, I absolutely will speak I'll of them.
