Or are they just a anime gimmick? I was thinking of buying some just to wear all day and increase my power but apparently its benefits are few if any.

I like wearing weights while I do pull-ups. It makes me better at doing pull-ups.
Feeling really good.

I wore ankle weights for a while in high school because I thought it would make me faster lol. It certainly worked in my mind, but I doubt it really did anything meaningful.

I put 7lbs weights on my legs and walked to kollege a few times and, years later, wore them for full days of work. Felt kool walking like a tank, but that kan fuck up your knees/gait. The moment I started to feel that, I never did it again.

This, damn anime for popularizing this trend, if someone wore a weighted cape or shirt like Goku and Piccolo do or weights around legs like Rock Lee did in real life their bodies would basically fold into themselves in a couple of hours
A worthless existence
Anime style, no.
But I've seen people wearing the half kilo weights and it seems kinda works.

They can assist with exercise. Wearing them all day like anime shit can cause long term harm to your joints/spine.
It says right here in Matthew 16:4 "Jesus doth not need a giant Mecha."

Unless you really know what you're doing, and have a specific sports goal in mind, don't. You will get stronger and faster, but in an imbalanced way that will threaten your joints and bone structure.

There was some youtuber who tried to mimic Rock Lee's weighted method as best he could for a week, and the results were actually quite impressive. But he was being managed by a fitness expert who warned him against it, and who then helped him de- train so that he wouldn't permanently fuck up his legs.
