Do you think it's too late for Pokemon to add a brand new type

Fairy was brought in at Gen 6, almost 15 years after Gen 1.

Think a 19th type could be added?
I don't see why they couldn't
I do drawings and stuff

If there is a need, sure, but there isn't. Fairy was primarily an answer to how ridiculous dragon dominance had gotten, and secondarily as a sort of balance patch for the other types it has adjustments for.

Chance (though an unlikely one) we get that with the new S/V DLC in a few weeks with the legendary Terapagos.
I used the knife. I saved a child. I won a war. God forgive me.
Nah, though I hope if we do get another new type in the future it has a better debut than fucking fairy.

For an entire generation we just had like...Sylveon. All the other good fairies were just re-typed old mons. Nobody gives a shit about Florgy or goddam Poshul-looking slurpuff.

People can talk shit all they want about how Gen 2 botched the new pokemon's stats but at least Murkrow, Steelix, et al looked fucking rad. >_>

New types were added for balance, not just to hype something new.
You, take a bump. Flatback.
Well it's time to rebalance, cuz Water is still OP

There's no reason for Grass to be weak to 5 types, but Water is weak to 2, and most gain access to Ice beam or other crazy shit.

It's time for Poison to rise up and overtake Water

A type strong against water and fairy, maybe even steel, but weak against grass and bugs perhaps?
Dragaux for smash!
Grass is fine. One of 3 types to resist Ground and one of four types to resist Electric. Mostly an issue with its users.

There's one type that needs help and everyone knows what it is, except maybe GameFreak.

Isn't dragon basically the cosmic type?

Rock needs help or needs to fuse with ground, cuz Rock always felt like a lesser version of ground

Just like sound based moves, make rock using attacks a specialized ground type move that hits flying types
Ice. Ice is the worst type. Fewest Pokemon with it, only resists itself, and hit SE by some very common types. Want to use an Ice type? Just bring a Water instead. Typing really restricts what Pokemon can utilize it. Hail changed to Snow and it still sucks. Buff Ice! Make more Ice types!

Rock has SS bonus. Could be better distributed and more distinctive, but great coverage and interesting resist spread.

Poison hits Fairy and has a bunch of good resists. Gengar has been getting mileage from being Poison for a long time.

Except in Gen 1 where it ruined the whole point of Ghost types (to be good against Psychic).

I think it'll be a one off or gimmick like how Arceus can be any type.

Hell no! Ice types are right up there with Dragon as one of the best offensive types in the game.

It's kind of shit defensively but I defy you to claim that Chien Pao, Baxcalibur, Weavile, etc are bad Pokemon because they have an ice type

I think Poison should be strong against Water

and Ice should resist Flying+Ground

I remember a similar topic like this popped up and "Ancient" seemed like a cool idea for fossil Pokemon or just generally old creatures that have a bit of a legacy in-universe. It would be a little confusing now with actual ancient-variants, but the name could obviously be changed. Maybe "Legend" to apply more widely to, y'know, legendary Pokemon too. Would help alleviate how often Dragon is used for these types of creatures.

Honestly, I think the types just need to be revamped. Some types are amazing and some are basically beyond saving, and that doesn't seem fair.

Weakest type from my experience is Rock, or like someone else said Ice, to some extent though not like "oh yeah it's utterly garbage." Water does have an an amazing amount of coverage for sure, but there are also a lot of water types that are just really generic & don't get used for much, to my knowledge, like Lumineon, Alomomola, Gen 1 waters like Seaking or Slowbro/Slowking. But then you have really good ones like Vaporeon, Milotic, some of the water starters, Lapras, & uhh maybe Lanturn?

I know people have been talking about a sound type for years though
3DS Friend Code: FC: 0318-7199-1150
The only new type that could be added and actually make logical sense is a Sound type. The game already distinguishes moves that are sound-based moves for the purposes of the Soundproof ability, the move Throat Chop, and other reasons. Plus, sound waves travel slower in colder temperatures because molecules vibrate less in the cold, so Ice could resist moves from the new type and get its much-needed defensive buff.

I also like the idea of combining Rock and Ground into one "Earth" type and making some of the former Rock moves a subset that can hit Flying-types.

Fairy was such a fantastic addition that it's hard to see anything topping it. I dont play pokemon but fairy is just that good. Really showcases how great the x and y were
