That's such a fun addition. I don't get why Nintendo abandoned so much of that game, characters were fun and simple too. I want Geno, Mallow and Croco for Mario kart games or Mario partySquare probably owns those characters.
Square probably owns those characters. We know for sure that they own Geno (Square-Enix got a copyright credit in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga for Geno's cameo as the host of a minigame; the 3DS remake omits both Geno's cameo and that credit), so they almost certainly own the other characters too.
Square probably owns those characters. This is it right there. If things had been different paper mario wouldn't exist. It just would have been SMRPG2.
Yeah that and the level up dancing are greatIf I had any talent at video editing, I'd remake the Bluey intro out of Mario RPG dancing.

Did... did SE and Nintendo have a falling out or something?Yeah, they were exclusive to Nintendo for like 10 years, then jumped to Playstation because of how restricting the N64 was. It's more professional, and not as bad as it's made out to be. The Geno stuff is just about licensing properties, which is always a mess.
This is it right there. If things had been different paper mario wouldn't exist. It just would have been SMRPG2.Then thank God things turned out the way they did because paper mario is one of the greatest games of all time. It took the blueprint made by the okay smrpg, and made a freaking masterpiece.
Birdo's has a sex joke in it, surprised that got past the censors.
...what?"she was patiently pining for the one who'd come break open her shell."

Why did the remake not feature it?

[People who play RPGs are] depressed gamers who like to sit alone in their dark rooms and play slow games.
Square moving to Sony did spawn one of my favorite quotes from anyone in the game industry >_>well, I mean, is that statement really wrong?

But at the same time, those characters NOT showing up in everything is part of their mystique. When my friend first told me about Smash Bros, I didn't believe him. Nintendo just did not have direct crossovers like that back then. Even Link and Samus in Mario RPG was unusual, but to have them interact in the same game was crazy.
