This is easy to say in an accepting environment but there are many lgbt youths that have to hide their identities from their parents/peers due to living in a more conservative area. Hell, even in liberal areas bullying that's accepted by the popular crowd/faculty is a documented problem. Not to mention, employers who might hesitate on promotions or treat people worse for stuff they don't agree with.
Even besides all that stuff, there's just simple privacy we all like. I mean, let's be honest are you willing to share your real name and address right now on here and have a photo of you as your profile pic?
