shin midgami tensei 5I really dont think its mid
atlus made us made 8 years for this?
Hat guy being an aspirational loser looking up to his angel was a great idea, the problem was them wanting him to actually voice a coherent ideology instead of just doing what she tells him which Law is anywayi actually dont hate hat man. I know his big scene is shat on but i really like that hes a loser who knows that hes a loser. The whole game before he becomes not hat guy is every single character telling him hes ass and hes just like damn okay ill still try to help even tho im useless
cough Apocalypse cough
Which isn't saying much but yes I agree SMT V is low.
The story isn't good, but the atmosphere of the game and the battle system are top notch. The only gripe i have about the overworld is that they all look so similar. Like i think they couldve changed the first 3 areas a LITTLE more than just the sand color lol
Exploration in the main areas of the game is also great. It really becomes obvious how much better it is than generic dungeon crawling once you are forced to go through a really long boring dungeon near the end of the game.

Fair point.each area pretty much has a gimmick of some type that separates it, (the pier/shipping crates in red desert, the higher/lower area in area 3) so while im not super happy with all of them being deserts it couldve been worse
I do love desert levels in video games though so that aspect never got old for me.
I loved it, I dont blame old fans who love SMT for dungeon crawling for disliking it as its more of a monster collecting jrpg with difficulty and open air dungeon-esque worlds to explore. I think it does the team customization, monster collecting and exploration the best in the series. the actual dungeon crawling with warp tiles just isnt there.the ideas and structure of the plot itself are not bad, its more that it feels like massive chunks that should be there just arent.
I think a maniax/apocalypse version would be great, and would probably be multiplat since thats the way Sega has Atlus working in. I dont really need the plot revamped much but Id love to see the characters given actual development. Glasses guy and the girl had nothing
I made it to like the first boss battle and just couldn't get into the whole human/demon hybrid plot thing. Just didn't click with me. Should I give it another shot or is it just gonna be awkward demon interactions forever? I LOVEd SMT 4, for the record, second only to Devil Survivor 2 in the Atlus library for meYou being a nahobino is incredibly important to the overall plot, so if you dont like it then it may not be your thing.
