Really excellent game whose connective tissue was evidently in development hell and finally rushed out to get their hands clean of it. Which is why an Apocalypse style edition would be huge.A half sequel with more varied environments and a competent story could legit be one of the best rpgs of all time. I already rate base SMTV highly even with all of its problems. It has so much potential to build off of
Yeah i feel the same about SMTV.Yeah the level scaling is really extreme in this one. I do like that they hand out the demon leveling items like candy so you can mitigate it pretty easily tho.
The story sucks but the gameplay is mostly fantastic. The weird level scaling is the only big problem.
Apparently SMT 3 is the really good one on Switch. According to the sweaty youtube SMT video makers. Accordingly, I have SMT 3 and SMT 5 in shrink wrap while I slog through the worst side quests ever designed in TotK.FUCK NO. SMT3 is great, but the switch port is a miserable excuse for a port. Theres lag for every goddamn attack.

But 5 letting you approach encounters at your pace is a pretty big difference. SMT3 is the game you have to pay respect to so as not to be torn apart by rabid internet denizens. As good as it is. It's also a game where you're just trying to walk to a save point and get ambushed by six red slimes and your party one shot at full health before getting a chance to act.

Id say nocturne is probably a better put together game overall, but lately im finding 5 to be more FUN in moment to moment gameplay
Oh no. Is this gonna be like FFT on PSPOk maybe not that bad, but still performance issues for a ps2 game should not be a thing on the switch lol at least by my standards
It's wild how all over this place this series is with difficulty. Only one I've played is Persona 5 which was kind of insultingly easy on hard mode. Except for Okumura.Persona is intended for an audience that doesn't want to worry about sweating through the dungeons while they're on their ramen dates.

Except for Okumura.Mainline SMT is usually pretty difficult until you figure out how the games systems work. For smt3, this means absolutely abusing buffs
I like it but 4 is way better I thinksay what you will about just picking and choosing in 5, but the alignment system in 4 was psychotic. You have to consistently earn points for one side more than the other but just somewhat, and then try to choose the side you had less points in to commit to, in order to get neutral (the unambiguous true ending).

The story itself is bad but I personally like the world building and atmosphere. And like everyone said the game play is amazinfthe music is also so good. fighting demons with guitar solos never gets old
I'm still waiting on the Steam port.A version of this game without constant fps drops would be great haha
Worst game in the series by like a millionwhat makes it so bad to you? I can understand not liking the story but the actual gameplay is great.
Worst game in the series by like a millioncough Apocalypse cough
Some of the best exploration and combat from the series. Atrocious story and to be honest, voice acting was a big mistake for this series. Makes incredibly tense scenes feel like a Saturday morning cartoon.I think some of the voice actors did pretty good tbh. I like Aogamis YOUNG MAN lol.
I'm still waiting on the Steam port.Lmao that's not happening my man. It was a switch exclusive & it's been two years, the only way you're getting a steam port is with emulation onto your PC
I am not playing SMT for story and character development but it sounds like the fifth iteration is worse than Soul Hackers 2 in that regard. A game I generally like quite a bit.I would say 5 is head and shoulders a better game than soul hackers 2. Soul hackers characters are basically all that it had going for it
I would deffo give V a go but I never got around to a Switch so ehhh.

It released in 2022 for Steam. But sure, it's not happening. Never mind that Atlus has also been releasing a lot of their games on Steam lately.

Never mind that Atlus has also been releasing a lot of their games on Steam lately.Persona 5 is the cash cow, it got a steam release because it's had 4 spinoffs by now. IDK why you'd compare the mainline series to the much more niche SMT, your logic is already flawed that far in. Couple that with the near decade it was from SMT IV>V, SMT IV never got a switch release or put on steam, so if you're basing this trend off of persona you're gonna be waiting the rest of your life.

Did you play the smt3 remaster? How do you feel about the voice acting there

I know most dungeons are subways but there was something to that and figuring out gimmicks plus boss fights keep you alert.I will say that 5 has some of my favorite music in the series. Some of the boss themes are just insanely good. If you ever get a switch id definitely recommend you give 5 a try
Plus ancillary stuff like side quests and the music (yeah the soul matrix music is lame). I was just playing the soundtrack off YouTube a few times at work on my phone and some songs I didn't even remember and I was just all damn this song hits all the right marks.
The gunsmith song is one of my modern all time favorites.

boss fights in smt are always usually pretty intense too
Still wish 5 wasn't a switch exclusive. Really lame route to go for that.i pray for a multiplat release someday

Tbh the combat was ... fine. My main gripe was that when you're in a dungeon the NPCs just blurt out the answer to any puzzle or mystery as soon as you see it. They could really cut out a good 30% of all dialogue in that game and be fine. Especially when you're into Royal and have like 10 people in the party all quipping in with one liners just so they have something to say.Persona 5s combat is actually good considering the fact that the combat isnt really the defining feature of the game
