Octopath Traveler question...*Possible spoilers*

Playing it for the first time, currently starting Chapter 4 for all characters.

I know there's a final boss which unlocks once you've completed all the character stories.
So I have H'aanit as my main. Upon completing her Chapter 4, do the credits roll? Or can I just go ahead and do her Chapter 4 first?

Credits will roll after beating her story. And you can feel free to do that now. You can keep playing after the credits and do the other stories. Also once you finish your starting character's fourth chapter, you can finally swap them out from your party freely.

I've been loving H'aanit since the very beginning, her monster gimmick is a blast. But this is going to be a welcome change. She's about 15-20 levels higher than the other characters at this point. Well...her and Ophelia because that girl is just too good of a healer.

I also love H'aanit and her capture gimmick. There may be better unique skills, but hers is fun and can help out a lot early on if you're brave enough to capture tough monsters.

I do prefer Alfyn over Ophelia though. Mixing is awesome once you figure it out and scrounge up a healthy stash of ingredients.

I should have a bunch of ingredients at this point as I haven't really gotten into mixing yet. Was planning on keeping Alfyn on as main healer in a second playthrough.
I feel like I did a stupid thing in looking up which secondary jobs suited which characters best. That guide said to make Alfyn a cleric and he just seems to severely underperform in that role when compared to Ophelia.

Next playthrough I'm definitely picking Therion as main. With the amount of chests only he can open it kinda feels mandatory to have him in your party unless you feel like going through each area multiple times.

What I always do is pick four characters, play through all of their chapters, then go back and play through the stories of the other four. That way I never have one character who's way overleveled compared to the rest of the team. It also means you can use endgame gear and secondary classes for early chapters. In my experience, it does make the second team into glass cannons for a bit when they have strong weapons and low HP, but it usually balances out after a few chapters lol.

For that final boss, you'll want to have everyone around the same level. The game doesn't do this to you anywhere else, but you will use EVERYONE.

First time around, I had a level gap of like 20 levels between my "main" characters and the rest... and... ooof... got slaughtered

You should do hers last because of the highlight reel you get.

Yeah, figured as much. Needing to complete everyone's stories to unlock it clued me in on that.

I've already started it earlier today, but I haven't finished it yet. But it kind of want to so I can boot her out of my party for a while so I can get everyone else up to her level which is 55 atm.

Well it's not a big deal. You'll be missing a few highlights during the credits but it doesn't actually affect the game.
