Quest 3 looks like it might be a great entry into VR headsets. I'm hoping it's good enough to be my first headset.

Why? I think the developments in mixed reality/AR seems pretty interesting, especially now with the spatial and 3d scanning.

Oh yeah I'm only interested in this to see how the VR tech has progressed. I've had an Index since 2020 and while it's fun to mess around with it, VR is still obviously hella gimmicky. For it to really take off, it needs to be affordable, wireless, and with an easy setup for tracking that any random person could do in a minute.

So just seeing how much closer we're getting to that

I know Facebook bought Oculus. I know they renamed it Meta. Yet somehow I still wasn't expecting to see Mark Zuckerberg and immediately lose interest lol. Also, I don't know if this is how he always speaks, but he seems very nervous or unprepared.

The mixed reality looks pretty good. The passthrough seems to have improved by a lot. Will wait for reviews and also looking forward for Valve's announcement with their next headset.

xbox cloud gaming is coming to quest 3, i think it's just a screen in VR that you play xbox games on. not like actual vr games.

That Asgard's Wrath game makes it look like VR really hasn't come a long way tbh.

The business apps are basically just Zoom in a 3D space. I don't know why any business would want to integrate this. Seems like a poor use of the tech that won't be adopted by anyone.

it's definitely an improvement over the quest 2 and in some aspects the quest pro. there were some cool ar games, but it's still early. i think i'm gonna wait until we hear from valve with the valve deckard before deciding.

I got a Pico4 recently and it nails the wireless part once you get set up. If they could just streamline actually getting set up...
