If it's on sale go for it. I had a good time with it and apparently Update 2 added some things that make it play even better. Assuming you don't mind messing with sliders to determine how fast your top speed is, how your acceleration is, how much air deceleration you get, etc.

Funny enough, it depends on what control settings you use. Though for the most part it only affects overworld movement. When you get to the Cyberspace stages the control style is fixed.

I don't think it quite gets to the finesse of the Genesis movement though. You can get it close though.

Yeah I was intrigued by the Action and High Speed settings. The internet says ACTION IS FOR NOOBZ FAST FAST FAST but the description of Action mode sounds more what I liked about old school Sonic, the platforming. Speed was just a bonus that was earned through proper momentum, not using bullshit boost pads.

Have they shown literally any footage of the other characters' gameplay? If I buy the game and get the update and Tails just has a driving minigame and Amy's gameplay is just a card game or some stupid shit like that then I'll scream.

I thought it was fun... Fun enough to get the Plat trophy too... Which I've never bothered with in a Sonic game...

I'll have to download it again to check out the new stuff when it comes out...

Speaking as someone who went for all achievements back during update 1, I'm actually jealous of anyone who has a chance to experience it for the first time now. I already really liked this game before, but now it's even more fun than it already was. I legitimately don't think it's just good for a Sonic game, I think it's just flat out a good game. That being said, I'd recommend the PC version if you can run it if only so you can alleviate the terrible pop-in with a mod.

Its decent for cheap.

Story doesnt take up too much time, says just enough, and knows to let you play it.

Theres always something to collect or find.

Actually looks good (played on ps5)

Doesnt have a lot of jank like Forces and other Sonic games.

Haven't played it, but it can't be as bad as Forces. Apparently there were some cut corners during development, but everything I've seen and heard about the game blows Forces out of the water.

The current writer of the comics wrote the story, and it seems to be a lot more character focused than other games. If you're a Sonic fan, like you really enjoy the characters and care about their characterisation more than just "Sonic is carefree, Tails is a nerd, Knuckles is hot-headed and Amy is the chick", everything I've seen of Frontiers suggests that you're gonna be eating good when you play it.

I hardly ever praise the game but I did like how Sonic talks Knuckles, Amy and Tails and even Sage and Eggman's memos. The problem I have with it is wither or not Sega will commit to actual character progression from this adventure.

I will say one minor thing that annoyed me was how long you gotta wait around to hear Sonic's idle dialogue, with some of that idle dialogue actually being pretty good (particularly on the 4th island). I ended up downloading a mod for that too. >_>

Unmodded it takes about 10 minutes to trigger idle dialogue and you need to not be in combat or a platforming segment, so I straight up didn't hear any idle dialogue at all until I downloaded a mod to shorten the time needed. Pretty weird decision for a Sonic game, making all those voice lines so out of your way to trigger.

Well ill be goddamned, I cant believe im about to say this, but im enjoying this 3D Sonic game. It strangely feels likeBanjo-Kazooie in a way. Like a classic collectathon platformer where you just go around the level collecting stuff you use to get other stuff and overcoming obstacles/puzzles/challenges to earn the main collectables which allow to progress further (jiggys/chaos emeralds).

Congratulations you've gotten the game and next week the DLC comes out, all the DLC is free by the way, Don't bother with the action chain stuff as you are now weakling. Until you can beat Ninja without and difficulties you have no business playing those new meat.
