I can't wait for the "out of control teen" talk show episodes where the out of control behavior is going to the library.

Whateva, whateva, I'll read what I want!
Rage is a hell of an anesthetic.
Oh no now they can't read 50 shades.

They will probably rebel harder the more censorship they have to deal with.

I remember "banned books" from school, but they were only really "controversial" books. If the books were actually banned I would have gone out of my way to read them.
Yes it's true.
I am happy to be stuck with you.

Um how bratty are kids in Alabama?
They think being LGBT is "bratty"

This is one step closer to the Taliban banning women from going to school

Less is more. Everything you want, isn't everything you need.

A generation of poor, uneducated conservatives willing to believe anything right wing propagandists tell them and do anything their corporate overlords say is going to translate into a glut of unskilled laborers willing to work shitty jobs for shitty pay, which translates into more corporate profits.
I know thinking isn't a right wingers strong point, but this is just going to make kids want to rebel. They'll now see the library as the "cool" place to be. If they really wanted their kids to stop reading, they should've encouraged it, so kids would continue to think libraries are lame.

That's my theory too. Libraries may need to move to incorporate more services online or virtually and perhaps learn to navigate social media to accomodate (if they're not already) but the demand will be there.

Right now, a 13-year-old can roam over to the adult section, Lambert said. Thats what some people dont understand. Right now if youre 13 and above, you can go anywhere in the library you want. If we put this in place, the parent has to be there to make sure they dont go over into that section.

ohhhh noo

Libraries have adult section. Since when and why wasn't I aware of it when I was growing up?

Libraries should pull the same stunt that Barnes & Noble did and mock those type of people with how they label endcaps with the "naughty books".
Asocial, not introverted. Know the difference.
Maybe those JRPGs villains were on to something about humanity being trash.
I seem to remember going to the library during lunch break at school. I didnt realise that was damaging me in the long run.

Seems smart. Can't have kids going in and learning things. If they're going to be unsupervised it's better they were out doing meth in a parking lot or something that doesn't involve those pesky LGBT villains.

"Teenagers are crazy! I thought my daughter was getting drunk and having unprotected sex with random students, but it was so much worse! She was reading books at the library! And one of them had a gay in it!"

Then they get caught, sentenced for the crime of bodily autonomy (drug use) and put in a for-profit prison.

Coincidence? Or by design?

I just accepted an offer to work at our local library... I'm curious as to what I'll see given the political climate nowadays. I start next Monday so we'll see. One of the questions during my interview was how I would handle someone from the public demanding a book be removed.

Please update CE! What state? Or area of the country if you prefer?
Makes me fucking laugh that the alabama age of consent is the same age you're allowed to read a book unsupervised.
