Let's goooooooooooo

I believe we were last debating the usefullness of Wyll.

So it sounds like you guys also didn't like his default set up and changed him to a pact of the blade? I'll try that since I don't want to go too far astray from his story

Um, no. He doesn't have a default set other than Warlock. He doesn't get his Pact choice subclass until Level 3.

That's the best route to go with him, imo. It's also been suggested to me that as soon as you get his 3rd Warlock spell slot (which is Level 10, I believe?), you should multiclass him into Sorcerer for some extra slots.

Time gets you like 6 spells that aren't exactly uncommon and Chain gets you a familiar and familiars are awful in this game.

My character is a warlock with no multiclass, pact of blade and eldritch blast stuff and he rules. Overpowered even.

I will say tho sometimes I get jealous of my fiance's wizard cuz she feels way more versatile in combat. It's nice having spell slots that recover on short rest but when one of those is almost always used on Hex (strength specifically, haven't found a use case for any of the other ones if someone could enlighten me here that would be cool) it feels very restricting in terms of versatility. Doesn't help that most of warlocks useful spells are concentration spells.

respecced so my party lineup is as follows
Me on MNK/ROG. I get like 8 attacks a turn sometimes and do like 64 damage a hit and each time i kill someone i get to move more >_>
Astarion on PLD, i think just straight up PLD. He largely tanks the attacks/protects the front line when i'm too busy zipping around on MNK and he hits really hard too, also has our heals.
Shadowheart on RNG/ROG for her to start lining up stealth kills and long range assassinations when allowed to
Jaheia on Fighter(yeah I couldn't come up with an abbreviation for this one, sorry)/BRB. She is basically Astarions backup when charging the front line. I have her go berserk and start throwing people as well because it looks hilarious

You're in the sweet spot.

If you have a few other things to do, pop them off and try to get to level 5.

It's the point where things start going your way, what with more attacks per round and actual AoE spells coming into play.

I'm not sure how I feel about my team comp in my new game.

doing MC monk, warlock astarion, paladin wyll and lae'zel. Lae'zel as a fighter feels much weaker than my MC barb did in my first game. the special effects from battlemaster abilities hardly ever work and her accuracy is super low too. reckless attack is too good of an early game ability, I guess.

monk was good until lvl 3 but I'm almost 5 now and haven't found very good 1h weapons, and there's no monk gear early on.

might have to MC a wizard and go power crazy cause I was pissed I couldn't ending spoilers dominate the brain in my first game even though I rolled a 20 on the 99 check. I'll have to see if being evil and going along with Gortash works >_>

I killed him by accident once and he got this necrotic aura. I noticed it didn't make anything aggressive so I ran around the entire goblin camp and killed everything with 7-9hp(every enemy seems to auto heal themselves if they get damaged by something that doesn't put them into combat. there was no cooldown I noticed, it looked like everyone was spamming potions). it only did 4-5 per hit so unfortunately I couldn't clear the entire camp that way

Drow Half-Elf Sorcerer / Warlock with Dark Urge. Kind of basic but strong and skillful. I might try a non-charisma character next time. Just, try to get through dialogue without relying on skill checks.
Others don't get to dictate what's normal and what isn't. It's something we decide for ourselves.

you don't really need charisma to get through dialogue or out of combat with skill checks. there are checks for every stat and race/class stuff too.

Minthara got fixed in the new update? Time to kill some innocent refugees ! There is also a mod on Nexus to recruit her by knocking her out instead. I hear she is actually a pretty interesting character, but giving up 3 companions and some quests for her is a steep price .

My new character looks like he could be a Final Fantasy protagonist, lol.

I tried out the mod to use Minthara on a good run.

It worked alright until the first long rest, where she stopped talking.

Then after the rest she entered combat with Wyll, and Gale helped her try to murder him because he's I guess he's a wizard supremacist.

I attacked, she disappeared in a puff of smoke, now the game can't decide if she's a companion or not in dialogue but she's gone.

Halsin's still using her tent though.

I made myself a new character. It's a Drow warlock (the Lolth kind, not the Drizzt kind) and I'm already loving how powerful my Eldritch Blast is at level 2 with hex and the passive charisma bonus. I might try a warlock in the next one-shot I do with my 5e group. There are lots of cool things about the class I didn't really consider until trying it out in BG3.

If your DM allows it I highly suggest trying the Hexblade subclass. It's a the most popular for a good reason.

Yeah, they gotta work on that. And Larian has stated that it's on the to-do list to expand the endings based on what you do during the game.

If voice actors go on strike I really hope Larian is one of the studios that gets spared from it.

There are only two returning characters (the best ones from 1 and 2 outside of Imoen, imo), so yes. The ties to the previous games only happen late in Act 2/all of Act 3, so you get enough time to get introduced to the game and its lore.

For the record, the first two games are called be The Bhaalspawn Crisis in the in-game lore.

If you pass a persuasion check late in
Act 2 with Wyll's patron, you also get what is probably his best weapon. That weapon lets you summon a motherfucking Cambion once per long rest. So yeah, not all summons are bad. The higher tier ones can be REALLY good, even

Quasits cannot fly, their range of movement is therefore a lot more limited. But I mean sure, there are ways to get similar utility, but on the other hand maybe you should just respec Wyll into a Barbarian if you want him to be a low armor melee fighter?

Gloomstalker or bust

On my main file I am playing a Wood Elf Assassin Rogue, Adran. Took a break from the game for a few days but I intend to restart (from the beginning of Act 3) today. He's the epitome of a phantom thief, and a good guy to a fault.

On file two I have The Dark Urge Dragonborn Monk. I could hsve gone with Sorcerer, but Monks look really fucking fun. And the idea of a Monk ripping people apart was too good to pass up. I'm going to play this trying to resist the dark urges as much as possible.

Third file I have my two-sword Fighter (Battlemaster probably) half-drow, Zeena. She's a Folk Hero, so my headcanon for her is that she's Driz'zt's #1 fan and tries to emulate him. All the way down to being a hero of the oppressed. She was on her way to Icewind Dale when the nautilus captured her.
