He gets elected president in prison. Tries to pardon himself and/or appoints an AG that works the federal prison system into giving him an early release. Once out, he begins the process of annointing himself God King for life.

It should be an instant 25th Amendment thing. He's not able to discharge the duties of the office while in prison. There's no practical mechanism that would allow it.

The presidency should automatically default to whoever his running mate was on the ticket if he won.

What if his running mate was himself?

If he had no running mate, then he has no vice president, and the Speaker of the House is next in line.

If federal crimes, he pardons himself and leaves prison. If state crimes, they try to figure out sone way to get him to do his job while in prison because they absolutely would not use the 25th to transfer power to his vice president.

Democracy dies, US gets it's first ever dictatorship. He goes after his opponents with violence and vengeance. A scary thought.
You're finally awake, welcome to the real world!
To be fair its not the most votes that puts the president in office, as was directly demonstrated in 2016.

"Automatically" still requires people in power willing to invoke it
Have you tried thinking rationally?
If he did win the election , the country would never allow a president to perform their dutiies from Jail.
So he would be released, and democracy would die.

If the state police refused, he would send federal agents to arrest anyone getting in his way of being self-released from jail.

In other words, Trump wlll be given a get out of jail free card if he wins the election and no one would try to stop him,
I mean how can they, how do you stop someone from getting out of jail when they have the power to arrest anyone that tries to arrest them.

Oh yeah that is why he wants the trials delayed as long as possible.
Trump is thinking, , all that matters is he wins the next election and he doesnt care how anymore.
He will lie\cheat\rig\steal even if it risks getting him in more trouble.
Because he knows once he gets the power of the presidency again, it's over, he's won, and the country will be torn apart as vengeance for not licking his feet the whole time.

The most votes is not how you become president.

Don't know why some are bringing up rules and laws when Republicans know they don't have to follow them. If Trump were in prison, they'd just let them out because nobody will stop them.

It still is. Just not the public's votes. Still technically valid to talk about him "getting the most votes".

The president of the United States is not chosen based on who gets the most votes in the country from everyone voting. The misconception that the popular vote wins is still widely floated around even by people who don't necessarily like Trump.

So when talking validity, it definitely needs to be clarified to people that the popular vote is not how the PotUS is chosen.

The Electoral College votes, which definitely needs to be clarified to the dangerous number of the uneducated on American politics .... does not mean most Americans voted for the winner.
Didn't a senator win an election while in a jail cell?
