People are getting upset that is holding the 2024 World Championships in Honolulu, Hawaii. 1st off, the timing was bad since the 2023 World Championships just ended and they made the announcement where the 2024 event will be held. 2nd, Honolulu is on a different island than Maui and in a different county. 3rd, these SJWs are making such a huge fuss when the event was planned months or maybe years in advance and telling them to hold the event elsewhere. Many of these people aren't even from Hawaii or maybe visited as a tourist once and have no idea how the economy works. Tourism is Hawaii's biggest industry as there aren't much exports besides pineapples, macadamia nuts, and Kona coffee.

She has a decent following and is trying to drive a wedge between locals and Native Hawaiians. She doesn't even live in Hawaii and she's about as Native Hawaiian as Elizabeth Warren says she's Native American. She was called white in a QRT and she responded by calling them a racist and fascist. Reeee!

I'm gonna go to spite the people attempting to boycott it, even though I haven't played a mainline Pokmon game since Gold/Silver. By the time the event comes around people would have forgotten about the "controversy." Sorry, forgive my conservativeness.

It strikes me as an odd choice to put such an event on an island in the middle of the pacific. Seems like it'd inconvenience a lot of people.

Spent one day in Honolulu. Mostly to see Pearl harbor. We did spend a short amount of time at the mall near Waikiki. There were so many pretty ladies lol.

I've been to Pokemon Worlds on Hawaii.

Yeah, it is inconvenient (I had to fly from the UK). But it's also brilliant.

The Japanese higher-ups absolutely love Hawaii, which is why this will the 4th time it's been hosted there.

For the people complaining do they believe Hawaii should be walled off and independent like Nunavut? I'm reading the threads but tourism is easily the most important part of Hawaii's economy. Are they saying you should only be allowed to own commercial land if you live there? Or have native blood? Goldberg Residential, the company that owns my apartment owns apartment complexes and industrial buildings all over the entire United States so I'd like them to get screwed out of some bucks at least, lol.

I know this is your new thing now, but how exactly did Pokmon screw them over?

The islands need to diversify gradually from a dependence on tourism and return ownership to the people. That should start happening right now. Going cold turkey on having visitors would obliterate their economy and cause even more widespread suffering.

If you really do care about the people who live on the islands, and aren't just taking up the cause du jour , you'll realise that.

The timing is ironic, but like said, people should be expecting an announcement after the current Worlds is over (they usually announce the next one after). Not only that, this isn't the first time it's been in Hawaii (it's also on a different island).

It's actually a pretty good location because it's better for the Asia countries rather than say New York. Most people would have to fly really no matter where it is (just like when it was just in Japan). So people need to chill about it, the outrage is laughable.
