democrats are far from an ideal party. at every level they aren't nearly tough enough on the gop and specifically they aren't nearly tough enough on the super extremist types that are actively working to undermine and end democracy.

the issue is that we only have two choices at the federal/national level and the vast majority only have two choices even at the local level. democrats are the big tent party, the party that appeals to the vast majority of americans whether it be senior citizens via protecting social security, or women via protecting their bodily autonomy and right to work and earn what men do, or any minority via fighting for and protecting their rights to just live their lives and enjoy the same basic freedom that everyone is entitled to. democrats represent and appeal to anyone from the ultra left to the center right

as many flaws as the democrats have, they are still the obvious choice for anyone that isn't filthy rich (and those people should still be dems if they have any kind of moral compass) or just anyone that wants all americans to have some degree of equality. i wish we could successfully have multiple viable parties that are further left, but we have to work within the system that exists if we want to realize that kind of ideal at any point in the future
Awesome pretty good response appreciated, I wanted more input on if what I said was pretty amiable. I agree with everything else you said
