From the very first screen shot i saw of 1, i was hooked. I got the story book edition of it and everything.

But 2 is much better and ive seen hit hit 30 bucks on sale already. I would honestly go for 2 over 1.

Octopath Traveler 2 is $45 on Steam. I was hoping it'd get a bit cheaper than that, but I was still considering it anyway because I heard 2 was better. I did like how the first game looked and sounded but something about the first game was still off putting to me.

Both games are great. I spent 100 hours into the first one.

The second one improves it in a lot of ways.
Less is more. Everything you want, isn't everything you need.

There's more interaction between the PCs (there's side stories), more voice acting, more classes, more gameplay features (limit break), secret classes can be unlocked before beating the game (except one, which is tied to one character)
Less is more. Everything you want, isn't everything you need.

The lowest its ever gone on sale on Steam is $23.99. Its worth it if you loved SNES Square RPGs, as its basically a love letter to those.

Uhh yeah I was looking at it for the PC. I was considering it, a week ago but was also waiting to see how cheap it got on the Steam sale. But it's not like it's still some cheapass game. I bought some user here a game during the winter sale but it was only 20 dollars and I was just feeling jolly hah

Idk why but I really wanted to enjoy the first game and when I played it I just couldnt get into it. I think I didnt like the combat system. The bosses felt spongey for a turn-based system. But I also didnt really like bravely default and thats a similar kind of system. Im still curious about getting the sequel one of these days tho. Maybe for Black Friday sale

Does the second one fix the level scaling?

first one was piss easy once you completed one characters path bc you were way over leveled

Only marginally, but it was enough for me considering how the individual stories were better this way around, only one I thought was genuinely good in the first game was Primrose's which even then at the end kinda crapped the bed, whereas all the tales save for Agnea's were pretty decent this time around.

I'll just use this fellow's topic. Offered buy me the game in DM. This Is probably an alt fest, but I started with Throne and then recruited Temenos. The two I was deciding b/t fun light and dark dynamic and then I kept exploring the continent more.

I didn't exhaust everything but then I was like I could check the western and continent and was like shit I over leveled Throne's mission. Well one of them, but with a party member I got schooled in this one area and I was onlybtwo levels lower.

What an odd game. I like it so far though the encounter rate seems high and I never run in those areas.

Just started the game. Started as Alfie. The game is super generic which is exactly what I expected and I'm sure it's part of the charm.
