As I've said before, boycotts end up basically working as advertising. That shit was absolutely everywhere the first couple of weeks.

It's why they're doing the whole reboot so quick. They're banking on the craziness to maximize profits.

That's the reality of HP going forward.

Honestly it really depends.

A group of always online people going around attacking people over a video game as a "boycott", that won't work.

A group of D&D players cancelling subscriptions because they don't like the upcoming changes forcing WotC to go back on them, that works.

Ultimately anything that tries to extend pass a small group that can form solidarity over an issue that directly affects them is bound to fail. Boycott works when the scale is small.
