I know I'm going to buy and play the game at launch, so it's like, why not go ahead and pre-order for a bonus? But then, do I really want to play a game like this for three days and then have all my progress deleted? Seems like it might put a wet blanket on when it actually releases and it won't be as good then or something.

Ethics-aside, there is no chance in hell that Blizzard won't be adopting Immortal's XP progression into D4 in one form or another.

but anyway, if i were to be willing to give Activision Blizzard my money, i would definitely play the open beta. a few days of progress being wiped would be a drop in the bucket of all the hours i'd get out of the full release, if 2 and 3 are any indication.

I've accepted the fact that everything I spend my money on is provided by someone at the top who is evil, so it's all a wash to me.

Grind 10hrs a day for 30 years without paying a single cent or pay money for all the XP bonuses. Then there's the secret progression caps designed to decrease XP and item rarity if you level up too fast or high enough, leading further into more XP boosting and so on...

There ya have it. I don't think it'll be that egregious but Blizzard absolutely won't hesitate to implement these tricks for a buck. Oh and this is a $70 fucking video game, not F2P.
