An expensive option is starting the second lease a bit early. This removes a LOT of moving pressure as you can gradually transition without close together strict deadlines.yeah that seems like the only viable option tbh.

You don't need to give 30 day notice.At my apartment if you didnt give notice the lease was automatically extended another year.
a few things:Ask for a month to month lease after the 1 year is up. Typically a 100 dollars or less premium every month but its better then risking temporary homelessness. Then give the 30 day notice once it actually got a spot lined up.

3. i started looking now, but every place is requiring my lease to start february 1st.

Dont let the new place dictate when you move. You tell them when you want to move in.But then the landlord is going to go with someone else. They're not going to move the date because of me.

Can I tell them I'm looking for something different, but I might end up staying? If you want to quit a job, you don't tell your employer you're quitting until you have a job lined up. Is it the same for apartments? I feel like it's not

I usually see places on apartments.com that are a few months out to start your lease. Just look thru the listings carefully.
