Joel was wrong. It wasn't his choice to make.Ellie made her choice based on a lie. She was not told the truth when she made her decision. The fireflies are monsters
I dont understand people who criticize him. I would consider anyone who didn't do the same thing as him, as evil
Ellie made her choice based on a lie. She was not told the truth when she made her decision. The fireflies are monstersI think it is more than that. She was obviously dealing with survivor's guilt, so even if they told her she would die, I think she would have said yes because she felt like she deserved it.
There was no chance the fireflies would ever save the world. They don't have a way to distribute it everywhere
Also, it's not up to a child to give e up her life to provide the cure. Maybe the world doesn't need to be saved. I would never let a little girl be killed like some medical sacrifice. Fuck the world. I would only care about ellie
His end was simply karma. That you simpathize with the character doesnt make him a white knight.Pretty much this. This dude is not a hero
His end was simply karma. That you simpathize with the character doesnt make him a white knight. It's this mostly. Joel did what he did, right or wrong. But his choice had consequences. The end he got was the end he deserved.
What did he do again? I've only beaten the first game several years agoBasically, the fireflies were going to cut out Ellie's brain. Joel said fuck that and went on a rampage through the hospital to rescue her. He then lied about what happened when she woke up later.
Not really. The fireflies never actually came off as competent enough to produce a cure much less distribute it plus putting the onus of saving the world on a 14 year old girl is extremely shitty.
i don't play games with white male protagonists
i don't play games with white male protagonists
Huh well I never knew there was someone to balance out the fact that I don't play games unless they have a white male protag.both of these posts are ridiculous
There's no easy answer, that's the point.Capital G gamers don't want stupid cinematic nonsense like nuance in their games. They want to play as perfect, righteous hero man.
He made his decision and knew he had to live with the consequences
Capital G gamers don't want stupid cinematic nonsense like nuance in their games. They want to play as perfect, righteous hero man.Which is ironic because Joel lies to Ellie at the end of the first game. So even he knows that what he did wasn't right.
Joel was wasn't wrongJoel and Fireflies each taking a left is two lefts though.
Fireflies weren't wrong
Ellie was lied to
Ellie wanted to take a right, but everyone kept turning left...and three left turns make a right. So, like, it's fine. Life's temporary anyway
I understand why he did it and sympathize with him but *TLoU2 spoils*This is the right answer.
He deserved what he got tbh
both of these posts are ridiculous
Ellie made her choice based on a lie. She was not told the truth when she made her decision. The fireflies are monstersshe wasn't lied to by the Fireflies; Marlene didn't know Ellie had to die for the cure until she joined with the rest later on.
That said, joel earned that brutal death years ago, but it's character assassination how they did it, and made him an easy mark to do it.
I understand why the Fireflies wanted to do what they did. They felt like they had no choice.
I understand why Joel did what he did. He did not think what was happening was fair and would do anything to stop it.
I understand why Joel lied. He did not want Ellie to see him differently and wanted her to keep her hope.
I understand why Abby did what she did. She lost almost everything thanks to Joel and felt like she needed 'justice'.
I understand why Ellie did what she did. She lost the most important person to her and felt like she needed 'justice'.
All of them are justified from their own perspectives. But life doesn't revolve around a single perspective. All of those characters would do similar if not the same thing if they were placed in the others shoes.
My perspective on Joel never changed really. He wouldn't have done things any differently even if he knew the outcome.
Joel very reluctantly trusted Sam and Henry though.with Henry and Sam, he had a choice, though.
To answer the OP, no. If anything, Part II just reaffirmed my belief that he did the right thing. Jerry was a scumbag. He wanted to cut out Ellie's brain after a few hours of poking and prodding but didn't want to inform Joel or Ellie. Why? Because he didn't want to give either of them a chance to say no. And we're supposed to feel bad for this asshat because he had a daughter and rescues Zebra's? Fuck Jerry. And as for the rest of the Fireflies... they did take Joel and Tess guns and, at least by the end, had no intentions of giving them back.I think people focus too much on the veracity of the science that's presented in the games, when it's clear ND just wanted to give a different take on zombies, in a way that sounded interesting.
