and the "hydron collider" and how they almost created a black hole

i tried to subtly correct her on the pronunciation of quantum a couple times, but it didn't stick. and also how the LHC wasn't going to create a black hole, only that it could create very very tiny black hole-like quantum singularity events that last a fraction of a fraction of a second or whatever. nothing that is going to suck the whole earth through it or anything like that.

but she did admit that she didn't really go very far with science in high school, and that she tries to learn what she can about it here and there but only understands like half of it, lol. so i give her an A for effort. we talked about the Higgs Boson, which she was still referring to as the God Particle, and i told her about what we know about the Higgs field nowadays, and we talked about quantum entanglement and the multiverse theory, and i told her about the one-electron universe theory which blew her mind. all in all, it was a nice if somewhat haphazard conversation that i was rather not expecting to be having with a bottle-blonde hairdresser lol.

If you want some mindblow, look into concentric quark model.
The only real info on it from some professor at San Jose State University, on pages that look like they haven't been updated since 1995.

lol, yeah

like, i'm not entirely sure she thought that that's what would actually happen, but she did definitely seem to have fallen for some pop "science" clickbait news that the LHC was capable of creating a black hole and had been close to doing so.

she was also talking about that Max Loughan "wunderkind" 12 year old scientist who had some..... overly optimistic claims about inventing a free energy device from household scraps that was basically just a crystal radio. i didn't recall who he was when she was talking about, but she was talking about how he's great to listen to and he's really smart and makes science relatable and all that stuff. when i googled him later i was like "oh, that kid" lol.

Hmm, as far as I know they actually werent sure how the propagation of miniature black holes could progress but felt the likelihood of any significant event was low enough that studies should go forward.

but you go off girl.
